LyPhE is the acronym of Laboratory of Physical Ergonomics, a research Laboratory of the Design Department of Politecnico di Milano.

The Laboratory was born in 2008 as a Motion Analysis Laboratory (6 Cameras Vicon Motion Capture System) with the aim to select Innovative and Interesting Research Areas to Investigate in Industrial Design, Product Design, Sports and Health.

The mission of LyPhE is to apply advanced technologies related to human motion analysis and simulation to the design process. The research focus is the analysis (motion capture techniques), simulation (Digital Human Modeling) and interpretations of quantitative data concerning the physical Interaction between men and Products. Research activities at LyPhE are Design Oriented, and the laboratory presents a record of Research Projects conducted in collaboration with Industrial Partners, National Institues and Universities.

LyPhE staff is strongly involved in Teaching Activities at the Design School of Politecnico di Milano, offering specific Modules in Ergonomics, Final Projects, and supporting undergraduate and graduate students supervising and tutoring their thesis.
